YA Cover Reveal: PRETTY AMY by Lisa Burstein

All right, readers, if you haven’t come across one of the other more than ONE HUNDRED bloggers out there who is participating in the PRETTY AMY cover reveal, then it is my honor to be your first! :)

And yes, you heard right: more than 100 bloggers are posting this cover today. What an awesome idea! I think more authors should do this, sending interest in their books into the far reaches to more possible readers like you!

But before we reveal, a few bits of info!

About the Author

Lisa Burstein is a tea seller by day and a writer by night. She wrote her first story when she was in second grade. It was a Thanksgiving tale from the point of view of the turkey from freezer to oven to plate. It was scandalous.

She was a lot like Amy when she was in high school.

She is still a lot like Amy.

You can follow her on Twitter @LisaBurstein, find her on Facebook, or visit her website to keep up to date!

In addition to this cover reveal…

[The author Lisa Burstein] will be hosting a Worst Prom Photo contest in the weeks leading up to AMY’s release on May 15. So make sure to dust off your old prom photos—the more tulle, bows, and big hair the better!—and watch Lisa’s site, http://www.lisaburstein.com, for details on how to submit/enter to win a beauty package. Make sure to let your readers know, too!

About the Book

Amy is fine living in the shadows of beautiful Lila and uber-cool Cassie, because at least she’s somewhat beautiful and uber-cool by association. But when their dates stand them up for prom, and the girls take matters into their own hands—earning them a night in jail outfitted in satin, stilettos, and Spanx—Amy discovers even a prom spent in handcuffs might be better than the humiliating “rehabilitation techniques” now filling up her summer. Worse, with Lila and Cassie parentally banned, Amy feels like she has nothing—like she is nothing.

Navigating unlikely alliances with her new coworker, two very different boys, and possibly even her parents, Amy struggles to decide if it’s worth being a best friend when it makes you a public enemy. Bringing readers along on an often hilarious and heartwarming journey, Amy finds that maybe getting a life only happens once you think your life is over.

Without further ado…

So what do you think of the cover?

Overall, I like it. Though personally, I find toes to be distracting… I would love the cover if Amy was wearing even peep-toe shoes, haha. But what I’m most excited about is how this is still a “pretty girl in a pretty dress” cover that doesn’t really emphasize that. It more feels like “Yep, true fact” on there being a pretty girl in a pretty dress rather than it feeling out of place. Also, I like seeing the whole girl! Too many covers hack and slash limbs and faces, disembodying the protagonists of today. Also the hint of jail bars? Took me a few times to notice! Sneaky and subtle.

All right, that’s it from me! Don’t forget to pre-order your copy for May 15th at your local independent bookstore! Don’t have a local indie? Then support your local Barnes & Noble!

Thank you to Lisa, and to Heather Riccio at Entangled Publishing for allowing me to be a part of this fun event!
